SoKal for Claude: The Shared Calendar for Friends
Claude calendar integration
SoKal is a shared calendar for you and your friends. Connect Claude to it and you can ask what's on your week, find a time that works with friends, see what a friend is up to, and make plans at real places. Claude only sees what SoKal already shows you, and it asks before it deletes anything or tells anyone.
Connect Claude to my calendar
You need a SoKal account (free, in the app or at sokal.app) and a Claude account.
SoKal is available in Claude's connector directory.
- Go to claude.ai/directory. In the Claude app you can also open Customize, then Connectors, and click +.
- Search for SoKal, open its listing and click Connect to Claude.
- A SoKal page opens. Sign in with your phone number, with Google, or with your email and password. Signed up with Apple? Apple sign-in isn't on this page, so first verify your phone number in the SoKal app (your profile, then Edit profile, then Phone numbers), then sign in here with that number.
- Choose View only or View and edit, then Allow.
- You're taken back to Claude. To check it worked, open Customize, then Connectors, and choose Yours (not Discover). SoKal should be listed there.
Or add it by URL: in Customize, then Connectors, click + Add, choose Add custom connector and enter https://mcp.sokal.app. Then sign in as in step 3.
View only lets Claude read your shared calendar and your friends' free time. View and edit also lets it add, change and delete your own events and invite your SoKal friends.
Things to ask Claude
- "What's on my calendar this week?"
- "When can Maya and I get dinner next week?"
- "What's Oliwia up to this weekend?"
- "Is Tom free Saturday afternoon?"
- "Who's coming to my party on Saturday?"
- "Who's in my Close friends, and what can Olivia see?"
- "Plan dinner at Kassi on Venice Beach with Maya on Tuesday at 7."
- "Add my trip to Los Angeles, November 7 to 10."
- "Move my dentist appointment to 4pm."
- "Delete my gym session tomorrow."
- "Get me a link to invite friends."
When Claude asks you first
Claude makes simple changes to your own events straight away. For anything bigger it shows you a summary (what, when, where, and who will be told) and waits for you to say yes. That includes:
- Deleting an event
- Inviting friends, or making a plan with friends
- Adding a trip, since friends near your destination may get a heads-up
- Changing a plan other people are on
- Changing every event in a repeating series
If you say no, nothing changes. A summary you don't answer expires after 30 minutes.
What Claude can't do
- Invite anyone who isn't your friend on SoKal
- Text phone numbers or send messages for you
- See details your friends don't share with you. Those show as "Busy".
- See the details of your friends' Google Calendar or Outlook events. Those always show as "Busy".
- Delete anything or notify anyone without asking you first
- Change events that came from your Google Calendar or Outlook. Change those in Google or Outlook and they sync to SoKal.
Try it in 10 minutes
- Connect SoKal as above and choose View and edit.
- Ask "What's on my calendar this week?"
- Ask what one of your friends is doing this week. Plans they don't share with you appear as "Busy".
- Ask "Find a time for dinner with [friend] next week." Claude offers two or three times and says who can't make the others.
- Ask "Plan dinner at [a real restaurant] with [friend] on [a day] at 7." Claude finds the place, shows you a summary with the address and who gets invited, and waits for your yes.
- Ask "Delete that dinner." Claude shows who will be told and waits for your yes.
Place results come from Google Maps.
Using ChatGPT?
SoKal also works with ChatGPT on paid plans (Plus or higher). Add it as a custom MCP server with https://mcp.sokal.app. This takes a few steps for now; see SoKal for ChatGPT. One-tap setup is coming once SoKal is in ChatGPT's app directory.
Disconnect
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose SoKal and select Disconnect. You can also remove Claude from Connected apps in SoKal's settings on the web, which ends its access straight away.
